2024 Dunkley By-Election
RESULT: Labor win.
A by-election to elect the next member of the Dunkley electorate was held on 2 March 2024, following the death of sitting member Peta Murphy in December 2023.
Labor’s Jodie Belyea retained the seat for the party, winning 52.7% of the two-party preferred vote.
2023 Aston By-Election
“In 2019, Aston was a Liberal Party stronghold. Less than four years later, voters swarmed to Labor and transformed the mortgage-belt seat into a sea of red.”
RESULT: Labor win.
The 2023 Aston By-Election marked the first time in 103 years that a government had won a seat off the opposition in a by-election.
Aston had been regarded as a safe seat for the Liberals, and the party had held it since the 1990 federal election.
Labor received a 6.4% 2PP swing.
2022 Victorian State Election
“Labor on track to win more seats than in 2018 ‘Danslide’”
RESULT: Labor win.
Labor was re-elected in a second consecutive landslide, winning 56 seats in the 88-seat Legislative Assembly, a net increase of one seat from the previous “Dan slide” election in 2018. This gave the government a majority of 16.

RESULT: Labor win.
The results in Western Australia were the subject of significant media attention on election night. The swing towards Labor in the state was much higher than in every other state and territory, at 10.1%, and it was large enough to deliver a Labor majority government.
Labor’s two-party preferred result in Western Australia of 55.00% is its best performance, tied with its result (also 55.00% in Western Australia) in its 1983 landslide election win.
2022 Bega State By-Election
RESULT: Labor win.
Early results showed a swing of more than 13% towards Labor in the seat, suggesting Michael Holland would win it, the first time the seat of Bega would be held by the Australian Labor Party (ALP) since it was created in 1988
Holland claimed victory just before 9 pm on election night.
The Liberals’ Fiona Kotvojs conceded nine days later on 21 February.

2018 Victorian State Election
RESULT: Labor win.
Labor won 55 seats in the 88-seat Legislative Assembly, an increase of eight seats from the previous election in 2014, a majority of 15.

The Coalition suffered an 11-seat swing against it.
This tied Victorian Labor’s second-best showing at the state level.
2018 Super Saturday By-Elections
RESULT: Labor win 4 out of 4; Longman, Braddon, Freemantle & Perth
Longman: 3.66% 2PP swing to Labor, with Labor winning 54.45% to the LNP’s 45.55%
Braddon: 0.11% 2PP swing to Labor, with Labor winning 52.31 to Liberal’s 47.69%.
2018 Batman By-Election
RESULT: Labor win.
A 7.87% swing to Labor and a 3.35% 2PP swing to Labor.

Biggest win in WA election history at that time.

Labor won 41 of the 59 seats in the Legislative Assembly—a 12-seat majority. Additionally, Labor exceeded all published opinion polling, winning 55.5 percent of the two-party preferred vote from a state record landslide 12.8-point two-party swing.
It was the worst defeat of a sitting government in Western Australia at that time and one of the worst defeats of a sitting state or territory government since Federation.

Labor picked up 14 seats, all of them from the Liberals
After the “Mediscare” strategy, the Sky News Exit Poll saw “health” as the number one issue people voted for in a Federal Election.
Labor picked up a significant number of previously government-held seats for a total of 69 seats, recovering much of what it had lost in its severe defeat in 2013.
